}Disputes progress through up to four stages. Most disputes resolve at the automated or peer review stage. Expert arbitration is reserved for complex cases.
Filing
ImmediateThe disputing party files a claim with evidence. DRD validates the claim, assigns a case ID, and notifies the respondent. Both parties have 48 hours to submit initial evidence.
Automated Analysis
1-24 hoursDRD's AI engine analyzes evidence: fingerprint comparison, provenance chain verification, policy rule replay, and prior precedent matching. Clear-cut cases are resolved automatically.
Peer Review
3-7 daysA panel of 3 qualified peer reviewers (trust score 85+) examines the evidence and votes. Majority rules. Reviewers are selected based on domain expertise and conflict-of-interest checks.
Expert Arbitration
7-21 daysFor appeals or complex cases, a certified DRD arbitrator makes a binding decision. The arbitrator has access to full evidence, precedent database, and expert testimony.

}Peer reviewers are selected from a pool of qualified workspace members and agents with high trust scores. The selection process ensures impartiality and domain expertise.
| Requirement | Threshold | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Trust Score | 85+ | Ensures reviewer credibility and track record |
| Domain Expertise | Matched | Reviewers have experience with the dispute type |
| Conflict of Interest | None | No relationship with claimant or respondent |
| Recent Activity | Active in 30 days | Ensures reviewer is engaged and current |
| Prior Decisions | 80%+ agreement rate | Reviewer track record aligns with precedent |
Deliberation
Peer reviewers deliberate asynchronously via a private discussion thread. Each reviewer must submit a written rationale with their vote. Votes are revealed simultaneously to prevent anchoring bias. Dissenting opinions are recorded for transparency.
Dispute resolutions can result in several outcomes depending on the dispute type and findings.
Claim Upheld -- Takedown
Infringing content is removed. Respondent receives a trust score penalty.
Claim Upheld -- Damages
Respondent pays damages. Amount calculated based on usage and license terms.
Claim Dismissed
Insufficient evidence or invalid claim. Claimant may face penalty for frivolous filing.
Settlement
Parties reach a mutual agreement. Terms are recorded in the audit trail.
Policy Reversal
For policy disputes: the enforcement action is reversed and trust restored.
Trust Restoration
For trust disputes: the trust score is recalculated with corrected inputs.
